Transneft Upper Volga Finishes Revamping Underwater Crossing at Surgut – Polotsk Oil Trunk Pipeline

Transneft Upper Volga has replaced the Surgut – Polotsk oil trunk pipeline’s underwater crossing of the Bolshoi Kundysh River in the Republic of Mari El.

The work was performed under the programme for technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul of the Company’s facilities.

The oil trunk pipeline’s revamping included scheduled replacement of 3.477 km of pipe, construction of two monitoring and control enclosures, installation of gate valves and four air escape valve units with manholes. The work included mounting pressure tap units with manholes, installing benchmarks and electrochemical protection equipment as well as constructing overhead transmission lines’ pylons.

The Surgut – Polotsk oil trunk pipeline’s section was revamped to ensure uninterrupted transportation of oil via Transneft’s oil trunk pipeline system and increase its reliability. Upon completion of the work, Transneft Upper Volga performed process connection of the revamped portion to the currently operated trunk pipeline.
