Meeting Held at Transneft Upper Volga to Sum Up Results of Projects to Improve Commodity Transport Operations

An extended offsite meeting has taken place at Transneft Upper Volga premises in Nizhniy Novgorod to review the implementation of the projects for the improvement of commodity transport operations.

    First Vice President of Transneft Maksim Grishanin, Vice President of Transneft Sergey Andronov, Deputy Vice President – Director of Commodity Flows Metering and Planning Department Igor Katsal and Director General at Transneft Upper Volga Yury Levin took part in the event.

The key topic of the meeting was demonstration of the Automated Operative Oil Accounting System (AOOAS) operation by performing an oil inventory check at Gorky Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate of Transneft Upper Volga. This software package allows for making up the operational oil balance and performing immediate inventory checks based on the data provided by the metering devices installed at oil trunk pipeline facilities.

AOOAS is one of the first systems providing for integration of data from other Transneft’s measuring and control systems into a consolidated information space. The software package allows for using consolidated factual information for analysis, planning and forecasting purposes in addressing such tasks as operative oil accounting and inventory checking.

The results of testing new sampling equipment to be used in tanks, as well as of the implementation and commissioning of a unified supervisory control and data acquisition system at Transneft North and Transneft Upper Volga were also discussed at the meeting. In addition to that, operation of the oil trunk pipeline automation and control system was presented at Transneft Upper Volga.

The participants of the meeting arrived at a positive opinion concerning the implementation of the projects for the improvement of commodity transport operations at Transneft subsidiaries. It was decided to further implement the innovative development strategy in the pipeline transport industry and to develop and introduce new technologies, innovative products and services in order to enhance the reliability and to comply with the environmental and energy-saving programmes as well as to improve the Company’s operations.
