Transneft Upper Volga has completed technical upgrading of an intermediate pig trap station at the Surgut – Polotsk oil trunk pipeline in the Republic of Mari El.

The works were conducted in compliance with the development, technical upgrading and revamping programme covering Transneft Upper Volga’s trunk pipelines’ facilities. The goal is to increase reliability and ensure uninterrupted oil transportation through Transneft’s system of oil trunk pipelines.

During the work, scheduled replacement of four process gate valves at the 1,942nd km of the Surgut – Polotsk OTP was performed. A gate valve with an unused crossover for reverse pumping was cut out at the intermediate pig trap station.

Upon the completion of the works, Transneft Upper Volga connected the intermediate pig trap station to the operating oil trunk pipeline.
