Transneft Upper Volga has conducted an Occupational Safety Day contest. The event took place on 24–25 April 2019 at the production service shop of Gorky Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (Gorky RPD) in Kstovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The objectives of the contest are to determine the level of employees' responsibility for complying with occupational safety requirements, to disseminate best practices in the field of labour management, to encourage employees to further improve their skills and to increase the prestige of work in the oil pipeline industry.
The event was attended by 18 representatives of Gorky, Mari El and Ryazan Regional Oil Pipeline Directorates (RPDs), Volodarsk Regional Petroleum Products Pipeline Directorate, Kstovo production service shop and equipment procurement base, and Transneftemash Factory of Velikiye Luki.
The contest programme included five stages: a theoretical knowledge testing, giving first aid, as well as the Best Occupational Safety Slogan, Safety Signs and Feel Like an Occupational Safety Specialist competitions. The panel of judges, composed of employees of Transneft Upper Volga’s executive office, took into account the observance of instructions and rules, as well as the speed of execution of the tasks.
Mari El RPD won in the team standings. Vladislav Kovalev, a construction worker at a Transneftemash assembly shop, became the best in individual standings.
The annual Occupational Safety Day contest is part of Transneft Upper Volga’s comprehensive HR policy, aimed at solving operational issues. This policy is also an important element of the corporate culture, allowing employees to effectively share professional experience.
