Transneft Upper Volga has been declared winner and awarded the diploma in the Best Project for Mitigating Impact of Industrial Enterprises on Waterbodies category at the all-Russia Reliable Partner: Ecology competition for the best practices in environmental management. The awards ceremony was hosted by the Council of Federation of the RF Federal Assembly on 11 July 2019.
The Competition Expert Board praised the Company’s efforts to equip its underwater crossings of the trunk oil pipelines with stationary booms to protect waterbodies, including those located in major cities and in special protected areas, from potential aftermath of oil spills, as well as the Company’s contribution to the development of an innovative environmentally friendly peat-and-mineral hydrophobic self-disposing oil biosorbent.
The competition was organised by the Reliable Partner Association jointly with the Russian Environmental Society supported by the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management in order to assist federal and regional authorities in the effective implementation of the Ecology National Project by identifying the most promising and efficient environmental practices and projects. The competition involved over 100 entities in various categories.
