Transneft Upper Volga Completes Revamping of Surgut – Polotsk Oil Trunk Pipeline Sections

The revamping of the OTP’s sections began in March 2019. 9,831 metres of the trunk pipeline were replaced. 65 crossings with utility lines including existing oil and gas pipelines, roads and communication cables were arranged. After completion of the construction and installation, hydraulic testings and in-line inspection were carried out.


84 people and 91 units of special-purpose vehicles were involved. At the moment, preparations are underway for the technological connection of the sections to the existing Surgut – Polotsk OTP. The facilities are to be commissioned in December 2019.

The revamping of the sections of the oil trunk pipeline was carried out in accordance with the technical upgrading programme for the oil trunk pipelines’ facilities of Transneft Upper Volga. The goal is to increase the reliability and ensure uninterrupted oil transportation through Transneft’s system of oil trunk pipelines.
