In Kstovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Region, police have detained members of a criminal group involved in diesel fuel theft from the Almetievsk – Gorky petroleum products trunk pipeline of Transneft Upper Volga.
The petroleum products theft was organised through an illegal tapping at the PPTP with an offshoot of about 5.5 km, which was laid using a directional drill unit at a depth of about two metres with access to the fenced area of an industrial facility, where various containers for storing stolen fuel were discovered. The stolen petroleum products were transported for subsequent sale using a fuel truck. In total, four suspects were detained. The total volume of the stolen fuel found amounted to more than 110 m3.
By now, employees of Transneft Upper Volga have removed the illegal tapping. Law enforcement agencies are taking measures to identify other persons involved in the diesel fuel theft, the evidence to bring the suspects to justice is being collected. A criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 158 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
