Transneft Upper Volga has completed the technical upgrading of 8 tanks’ dyking at the Volodarskaya line operation dispatcher station (LODS) in Moscow Region.
The works were launched in May as part of the company’s technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme.
The dyking of the tanks is a site where the tanks with oil or petroleum products are installed. In the course of the planned work, the dyking of 8 vertical steel floating-roof tanks (VFRTs) for storing motor petrol with a volume of 7.5 thousand m3 each was brought to standard condition.
Specialists carried out excavation of rubble coating from the site where the tanks with petroleum products are located. An impervious screen made of a special film which prevents petroleum products from entering the soil was laid on the sand cushion. More than 15.5 thousand m3 of rubble were poured on top of it. In addition, installation of new gangways through the dike was carried out. For the measures period, the group of tanks was decommissioned. Currently they are operating under the standard protocol.
The technical upgrading of the tanks’ dyking at the Volodarskaya LODS will increase operational and environmental reliability of process equipment to ensure safe transportation and storage of petroleum products.
