Transneft Upper Volga celebrates its 45th anniversary of operation.
In 1976, the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR established the Upper Volga Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate — Verkhnevolzhsknefteprovod. In 2014, the Directorate was renamed into Transneft Upper Volga Joint Stock Company.
Today, Transneft Upper Volga is the largest backbone company, employing 7,600 people and operating in 14 regions of Russia. It is included in the list of strategic joint stock companies and is a main customer for goods, works and services, as well as a major taxpayer.

The company includes Transneftemash Factory of Velikiye Luki and Industrial Automation Centre. They develop, manufacture and service specialised products for construction and operation of trunk pipelines. These products were awarded with certificates of the nationwide competition under the 100 Best Goods of Russia programme.
